María Cruz de Carlos Varona
María Cruz de Carlos Varona is Associate Professor at the Department of History and Theory of Art, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. She completed her doctorate at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2005) on the role of art and visual culture in the construction of sanctity in Early Modern Spain. She was the Allen Whitehill Clowes Curatorial Fellow at the Indianapolis Museum of Art between September 2005-September 2006. Her three main research areas are the artistic agency of the Spanish Habsburg women; Religious Images in 17th century Spain and History and Culture of engraved images.
