Alessio Assonitis

Alessio Assonitis received his doctoral degree in Renaissance art history from Columbia University in 2003. He has taught at Columbia University, Barnard College, and Herron School of Art. In 2003-4, he served as Allen Whitehill Clowes Curatorial Fellow at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. He arrived at the Medici Archive Project in the autumn of 2004 on a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship. He became MAP Research Director in 2009 and Director in 2011. He served as Principal Investigator for digital projects supported by the Andrew W. Mellon foundation, including BIA (2010-2012; 2013-2014) and MIA (2015-2017; 2017-2019) and has published extensively on topics related to Italian Renaissance art, book history, Medici history, archival studies and digital humanities
